Mail autoconfiguration on Hostilla.pl

Popular mail clients can automatically detect Hostilla.pl mailbox settings using autodiscover, autoconfig and SRV records.

What mail autoconfiguration gives you

The user does not need to manually copy server names, IMAP/SMTP ports or encryption options. In many mail clients, entering the e-mail address and mailbox password is enough for the application to fetch the right settings.

This reduces common mistakes: wrong SMTP port, missing outgoing authentication, login without the domain name or accidental use of an unencrypted connection.

Which mechanisms are supported?

  • autodiscover - used mainly by Outlook and Microsoft-compatible environments.
  • autoconfig - used by Thunderbird and compatible mail clients.
  • SRV records - help point IMAP, POP3 and SMTP services with proper ports.
  • SSL/TLS - the configuration prefers secure mail connections.

Which clients can benefit?

Autoconfiguration can help Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, iPhone Mail, selected Android mail apps, eM Client and other e-mail clients that understand autodiscover, autoconfig or SRV records.

Not every client supports every method, so Hostilla.pl maintains several discovery paths. If one method is not used by the application, the client may try another one.

What must be correct in DNS?

The domain should use correct mail DNS records, including MX and configuration records that point to Hostilla.pl servers. For deliverability, SPF, DKIM and DMARC also matter.

If the domain was recently migrated, some devices may still use old DNS answers. Wait for propagation or check the domain with the Hostilla.pl diagnostic tool.

If automatic detection does not work

First, make sure the full e-mail address is used as the login and that you enter the mailbox password, not the customer-panel password. Then check mail DNS and domain authentication.

You can use the Hostilla.pl mail checker to verify MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, RDAP and selected mail-server IP blacklists.
